Juventus’ Director of Football, Fabio Paratici, has spoken out on rumours linking the club with a move for Manchester United star, Paul Pogba. Pogba returned to Manchester United for a fee of £89million. But the player is already being linked with another move and is said to be pushing to leave the club ahead of the January transfer window. Germany has beaten Turkey to host Euro 2024 after a vote by Uefa’s executive committee on Thursday. The two countries made final bid presentations before voting took place in Nyon, Switzerland. The decision means Germany will stage the European Championship for the first time as a unified country, with West Germany having hosted the 1988 tournament. Turkey is yet to host a major international football tournament. It has seen previous attempts to host the Euros in 2008, 2012 and 2016 fail, as well as the 2020 Summer Olympics. Germany staged the 2006 World Cup.

Manchester United striker, Marcus Rashford, reportedly received a warning from manager Jose Mourinho, for his behaviour following their victory over Young Boys. The 20-year-old forward has only started one match in the Premier League this season and was shown a red card just 10 minutes into a substitute appearance against Burnley. Questions have been raised about Rashford’s temperament since he returned from England’s 2018 World Cup campaign and Mourinho criticized his attitude, while United were in Switzerland on Champions League duty. The system – used at the 2018 World Cup in Russia – allows referees to review footage of key decisions. President Aleksander Ceferin said Uefa was “confident” it would have time “to put in place a robust system”. He added it would also provide sufficient time to train match officials to ensure an “efficient and successful implementation of VAR” in “the world’s flagship club competition”. Germany and Turkey will find out on Thursday which of them has won the right to host Euro 2024. They will make their final bid presentations to Uefa before the decision is announced. In the build up, an evaluation report by European football’s governing body stated giving it to Turkey had risks. The report added that Turkey’s lack of an action plan in the area of human rights and limited hotel capacity in many cities are matters “of concern”. It also labelled the scale of transport infrastructure work required “a risk” for a tournament which will return to a single-host format after Euro 2020 is held across Europe.

Talks between Arsenal and midfielder Aaron Ramsey over a new contract have broken down. Ramsey’s existing deal expires on 30 June 2019 and the Gunners had been hopeful of tying up fresh terms. But negotiations have stopped and, barring an unlikely resumption, the 27-year-old will be sold in January or become a free agent next summer. As things stand, the Welshman will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club from 1 January. Ramsey joined the Gunners in 2008 in a £4.8m move from hometown club Cardiff City.
